Lapsed Angler Recruitment Program to Increase Fishing License Sales

RBFF is partnering with state agencies to implement a Direct Mail Marketing Program aimed at increasing fishing license sales across the United States. Designed to reel in lapsed anglers and keep them hooked, the program is directed at increasing participation in the sport and generating awareness of the connection between fishing license sales and conservation efforts.

The Direct Mail Marketing Kit for this program includes:

  • Step-by-step instructions for planning, executing and managing a license renewal campaign.
  • Materials based on RBFF’s national advertising – a highly visible and successful campaign that attracts more than one billion consumer impressions each year.
  • Three direct mail templates with customizable photos and incentives.
  • Six proven direct mail marketing strategies.
  • State agency case studies, best practices, research findings and many more user-friendly support resources.

RBFF launched the program with 30 states in 2008. Thirty-two states participated in 2009. States interested in participating in 2010 will need to meet some minimum criteria including an electronic license database, at least one year of lapsed angler data and state funds.
